Hello! Though I'd get the ball rolling by sharing my pictures from my christmas trip to Germany this past 2011. We stayed in St Blasien for the most part (my aunt lives there) but also went to Waldshut, Menzenschwand & Freiburg. My aunt stays near the "town" area of St Blasien so it's pretty convenient. The cafés, shops and supermarkets are within walking distance so it was really nice. Also, we had quite a bit of snow as well, which was wonderful. I loooove the snow, it's so pretty and cold and beautiful. But then again, that's coming from someone who lives in a place where it's hot and humid 365 days of the year.
The first few days were pretty chill - we just walked around in town, mailed out christmas cards, lounged at home watching american dramas in german (so weird). We also went to the supermarket many times, which was kind of awesome seeing as they have some pretty neat stuff there. On the first day, we found the legendary duff beer! yes, like the one they drink in the Simpsons! I have to admit, it tastes pretty bad. Oh my goodness, we also bought some coconut chocolate and ovaltine chocolate. Both of which tasted like heaven in my mouth.

We didnt' do much in Waldshut except have some lunch at a little italian place. It was quite a cute little place, and the people who owned the restaurant were Italians so we were getting some good food. I had the truffle pasta which tasted like pure heaven in my mouth (everything in Germany tastes like heaven, okay?). I also picked up some washi tape so i could stick stuff around my room and have it look all fancy.

snoooow!
Besides that, we really didn't do much. On Christmas eve we just had some raclette with my aunt, her fiance, his kids, and my cousin. If you don't know what raclette is, I shall save you the googling and explain it to you. Basically, you have your own little skillet, and in that skillet you put a slice of cheese followed by various toppings (fried ham, mushrooms, shrimp, pineapples, whatever you fancy!). Then you melt the cheese and toppings on the skillet by placing it under this hot plate, and when it's fully melted, you pour it over boiled potatoes! It's so delicious.
getting ready for the tea party!
On one of the days we also had a tea party! My aunt's friends came round and brought all sorts of delicious German goodies. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of that but it was really fun. The food was absolutely amazing as well! I also made some hazelnut truffles on christmas but I'll save that for another post so I can put up the recipe as well! It's so easy, I promise!
